The UKC Tiger Team is a traveling team of carefully selected students of all ages who are interested in competing in Kata and Sparring.

If you are interested in your child competing, they will have to be approved by Grandmaster Haney.  Approval is based on belt rank, evaluation of class behaviour and skill/practice in the area of competition.

If approved, they are then considered a member of the UKC Tiger Competition Team.

For students under 18, the parents will be responsible for the student’s transportation and must stay with the student at all times during competition.

The Benefits of Tournaments

Aside from the usual physical and mental benefits of practicing martial arts, competing in tournaments offers a chance to test the skills in a different environment of the typical daily class routine.

It teaches competitors to overcome their fears, think on their feet and adapt to new situations.

In addition, the desire to do well in a competition is a great motivator.  Especially for children, tournaments provide a set of mini-goals to keep their attention and focus on learning martial arts.

This will be an intraschool tournament, required for each student.   This will help facilitate an understanding of the protocol and order of martial arts tournaments.  Parents/family are welcome to attend and cheer on their student.
